It was a busy and exciting start to the week in school today with bundles of activity across all of the year groups!

The day started with our Foundation Stage team welcoming the first group of our new intake into school this morning. Our smartly dressed youngest children spent the morning playing with each other and were introduced to key areas of the school throughout the morning. The children shared their ‘This Is Me’ bags so that their new friends could learn a little more about them.

In the KS1 assembly Mr B introduced the children to a newsflash which saw the newsreader relay shocking events from FairyTale land! There were clips of Jack harassing the giant, the troll being scared by the billy goats gruff and live footage of Little Red Riding Hood chasing a scared Mr Wolf! The children were asked to go back to their classes to investigate the events further and to follow up the newsflash as a focus for future learning throughout the week.

In the KS2 assembly Mr B shared the Channel Four trailer for the Paralympics titled ‘Superhumans’. The children discussed the determination the athletes demonstrated in the clips and related it to times they had had to persevere to achieve a positive result.

At lunchtime the sound of recorders echoed around the school as clubs took place for both key stages.

In the afternoon the children from Year Four enjoyed a fun swimming session over at the pool. The extra session was a reward for being crowned the top attending year group last year and great fun was had by all!

6C donned their cycling helmets and showed some pedal power as they took part in their first Bikeability session of the week. The team taught them how to check their bikes were safe to use before they demonstrated their starting point of the week by cycling around the playground.
