The children in Year Five have been investigating Greek Myths and legends and enjoying every minute of doing so. Today they began writing their own myths, including wonderful descriptive passages, and included some adventurous choices of vocabulary.
Later in the day, Mrs Townsend took another group of children over to the hen house ton visit Melody and Pickles. The children fed the chickens hand fulls of sweetcorn and peas, the hens favourite treats, collected their eggs and even had time for a cuddle. The hens are so tame now that they simply love being cared for by the children and an enjoyable experience for all is always guaranteed.
After school we were visited by two of our school governors. Mr Spence has a responsibility for monitoring Maths across the school so met with the lead teachers of the subject; Mrs Geach and Mrs Sterling. The trio discussed priorities in the subject in the school improvement plan and how this will impact the children’s progress in each key stage. Meanwhile in Oak class, Mrs Cockett met with Mr Vousden. Each year group now has an attached governor who tracks the children as they progress through the school and, as part of Mr Vousden’s role, he met with Mrs Cockett in her capacity of year group leader to discuss the curriculum and how it is organised.
