It was a magical morning of music at Earls Hall today! Hosted by the lovely Mrs Thompson, our specialist Music teacher, the morning began with musicians from across KS2 entertaining parents and other proud family members as part of our Summer term ‘Music Review’. The review began with a performance from our timbrel group who were accompanied by our fantastic Year Five & Six Choir.

Mr Thompson then introduced his piano students one by one who performed brilliantly before Mr Browne proudly shared the talents of his guitar students on the stage. Finally Mrs Potter introduced her drum students who rocked on the stage before the review ended with a final song and dance from the choir and timbrels. It was a fantastic show full of developing musical talent. Well done to all of our performers, we are proud of you!

Later, at lunchtime, the staff room once again turned into somewhat of a creche as we were visited by the lovely Miss Newman and baby Nellie for their first visit since her arrival during the half term. Joined by the equally lovely Miss Patching and baby Elliot, both bundles of joy enjoyed plenty of cuddles with the team before popping into some classes to say hello. It was lovely to see two of our latest Earls Hall arrivals and they both behaved beautifully!

Today also saw plenty of action on the sporting front as two teams from Years Four and Five represented the school at the Southend rounders tournament. Both teams played brilliantly, playing schools such as Edwards Hall and Fairways before both losing out in the final game and coming home with fantastic second place medals! Well done children, we are proud of you!

At the end of the afternoon the downstairs hall was full of  a host of parents from our Foundation stage classes, all eager to find out more about life in Year One at their transition meeting. Mr Geach and Mrs Critoph, who will be leading the year group next year, explained how the learning is organised in a progressive way from Foundation Stage, building on the strengths and learning styles that the children have developed since they joined us last September. Mr B was also on hand to contribute to the meeting before the parents had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the teachers who will be caring for their children next year over a nice cuppa! Thanks to everyone who came along. There were plenty of other minds thinking ahead to September as were joined by Miss Cracknell, one of our lovely new teachers. Miss Cracknell spent time getting to know the team, including Mabel the puppy, and also popped into each of the Year One classes in order to begin to get to know the children who will be in her class next year. Welcome to the team Miss Cracknell!
