It was a special day today at Earls Hall as we saw the long awaited return of our school dog, the lovable Mabel! Our four legged friend has not been in school since March but was back today and was back into the swing of things in next to no time. Due to the slightly different way that we are working nowadays, Mabel will now be working with a set class throughout each day that she spends in school and today she started by spending time with the children in 6M.

Throughout the day Mabel was taken for walks around the field by groups of children and there was lots of mutual love shared between her and the pupils. It was smashing to see how calm Mabel was all day but she was a tad tired by the end of the day! It’s been decided that Mabel will have a gradual return to work so she will next be in school on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the children in the Foundation Stage continued to have a creative time, both indoors and outside. Some children experimented with paper and glue in order to make friendship bracelets whilst others showed an interest in Whales, particularly the Narwhal, and decided to draw them, find pictures of them on the computer and cut them out.

Upstairs, the children in Willow enjoyed some time to read for pleasure whilst the children in 6J edited their writing. In Oak the children investigated the properties of different types of triangles whilst, in Owls, the children made their own puppets of characters from Jack & the Beanstalk so that they could retell the story. Outside, in the woods, the children in Squirrels enjoyed a Forest Friends session where they made trails and dens in the forest and chose their new Forest names for the year ahead.
