It was yet another busy day in school! The children in Foundation Stage and KS1 started the day in the downstairs hall where Miss Tome led an assembly teaching them all about the Hindu festival of Holi. Holi, a traditional Hindu festival, celebrates the beginning of spring as well as the triumph of good over evil. It is best known around the world for the powder that revellers throw on each other, leaving festival goers coated in colour by the end of the day.

Later in the morning four children from Beech were chosen to take part in our latest ‘AOK Club’ mission. The mission saw the children travel on the school minibus with Mr B and Mrs Bench to ‘Little treasures’ nursery. At the nursery the children explained to the key workers the aims of the club and then spent time modelling play with the young children in one of their halls. They took part in parachute games and taught the children how to play some that they knew from Earls Hall. Afterwards the children read stories to the children as individuals and groups before saying their goodbyes. The children at the nursery loved their time with our pupils, who represented the school beautifully throughout. Mr B was delighted to present them with their special badges in recognition of their kindness when they returned to school. Thanks to everyone at ‘Little Treasures’ for being such warm and friendly hosts.

On her return to school, Mrs Bench continued to be a busy bee as she assisted Squirrels in the library. The children shared books with each other, having browsed through the titles on offer. Upstairs in Year Six, the children used the laptops to edit their animation films and work in pairs on the Kodu programme.
