It was a great end to the week in school today. In our downstairs ‘Celebration Assembly’ the children celebrated the achievements of Sadie from Year Five following her participation in the national table tennis championships last weekend. The children in KS2 had already heard all about the tournament on Tuesday but today Sadie was able to inspire the children in Foundation Stage, Year One as well as her friends in Year Three and Year Five. The children were so proud of Sadie that they gave her three cheers!
Later in the assembly the children congratulated the team of runners from Year Three who took part in the recent cross country tournament as well as children who had reached silver, gold and platinum level in their maths challenges.
At the end of the assembly it was once again time to announce the total points for each of our four houses. Every week each year group allocates 10 points for fourth place, 20 for third, 30 for second and 40 for first and then all the year group totals are added together to create a grand total. The points are based on how many tallies the children in each house earn for positive behaviour. Today the children in Warwick earned the most this week but Oxford had the most points in total. At the end of the term the house with the most points overall will all enjoy an extra playtime so everyone is trying their hardest to behave as well as possible to contribute towards their house total!
Later in the morning Mr B was joined by four children from Squirrels who were chosen to undertake our latest ‘AOK Club’ mission. Every week, after the council have collected the rubbish bags from Carlton Avenue, there are bits of litter blown across the street so today the children used the special ‘AOK’ litter pickers to collect it and place it in bin bags. The children worked in teams to search for the litter and were even congratulated on their hard work by one of our neighbours, Mr Lopez. The children were rightly pleased with their effort to keep our local community clean and tidy and Mr B was really proud to present them with their special badges at the end of the mission.
