It was a fantastic and busy start to another week at Earls Hall today!

The morning started with the latest of our ‘Reading Champions’ being presented with their special badges in assembly by our Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Critoph. The children stood at the front of the hall and were rewarded for their efforts in reading at home. Well done to all of the children who were part of the presentation today, we are proud of you all! Later, in our KS2 assembly, Mr B introduced the children to the concept of ‘World Kindness Day’. The children identified the small gestures in life which they could undertake in order to show kindness to others and brighten peoples days.

Meanwhile, away from school, the children in Year four enjoyed a fun and educational day out at the historic Layer Marney Tower. The day had a Roman theme and saw the children create their own clay pots, investigate Roman artefacts, the food that they ate and the clothes that were won at the time. They explored the work of Gladiators and what took place in an arena as well as the lasting legacy of the Romans. It was a great day out which the children all enjoyed.

Back in school, the children in 6S took to their bikes as they took part in the first of their daily sessions of Bikeability whilst the children in Year Two began investigating people whose careers help others. The children began making vehicles of people whose jobs they identified as helpful such as ambulances, police cars and fire engines; ensuring that they included axles on their models so that their wheels could turn efficiently. Later in the afternoon, whilst still investigating helpful careers, the children were visited by Mrs Kaufman who explained to them all about her career as a hairdresser. Thank you Mrs Kaufman for giving us your time.

In the afternoon the community room was used by our PTA to plan the varied events taking place over the Christmas period. There was plenty of discussion and activity ensuring that this years festivities look set to be memorable ones! Thanks to everyone who came along and gave us their time.
