It was a proud final day of the academic year today as we said a fond farewell to our lovely Year Six pupils. Throughout the morning they took the time to sign each others autograph books before taking part in a year group assembly. In the assembly, Mr B presented two of the children with this years ‘Governor Award’, an award which recognises qualities and achievements the children have displayed which are not academic. This year the awards were presented to Evie and Frankie. Evie was presented with the award for the determination which she has shown to succeed, most notably through her achievements in table tennis where she reached the national finals having practised in her own free time day after day. Frankie was presented with the award for constantly facing every challenge set to him with a positive attitude, a cheery nature and a growth mindset whilst displaying exemplary behaviour at all times. The rest of the year group were all proud of the children and also took the time to share what made them proud of each other and what they had achieved over the course of their seven years with us. Now that singing is allowed back in school, the assembly ended with a song, and Mr B took them right back down memory lane by accompanying them on his guitar to ‘In the Jungle (the lion sleeps tonight).

In the afternoon the Year six pupils took part in the traditional shirt signing session on the playground where they, and members of staff, wished each other luck by writing messages which they can keep for a lifetime. At the end of the day parents of the children joined them omn the playground where they took the time to capture one last moment of their time at the school on their cameras. It was a fitting end of their time with us at Earls Hall where, for the vast majority of the children, they have spent seven happy years and made us all feel incredibly proud.

Meanwhile, the rest of the school enjoyed fun and games as many of the classes took part in end of year parties. There were more celebrations after school as the team wished Mrs Bowden and Mrs Anderson a happy 50th birthday. Both of the Robin ladies celebrate their special days in the Summer holidays and so were presented with flowers by their friends. The main event after school was the opportunity for the team to bid a fond farewell to the lovely Mrs Cockett as she begins her retirement. Mrs Cockett has been a cornerstone of the school for nearly fourteen years and, although we very much hope to see her often in the future, can look forward to a well earned rest after decades in the teaching profession.
