It was a busy day for the children in Year One today as they took to the stage on three occasions in order to perform their Christmas production of ‘It’s a Baby’. The children were joined in the hall by proud parents and other family members as they told the story of the Innkeeper and his wife as they welcomed Mary and Joseph and a whole host of special visitors to witness the birth of the baby Jesus. The children sang, danced and acted their way through the story and all projected their voices and performed beautifully, much to the delight of the audience. Thank you to all of the family members who came along to watch the performances. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Meanwhile, in Badgers, the children used their English lesson to learn about the Great Plague. The children wrote down lots of facts about the plague and then recorded these facts into their own golden sentences. After this they then decided to complete a fun experiment about what happened to the spots/buboes that came up when you had the plague and what happened when you popped them! The children loved injecting the ‘spots’ with custard and watching them pop and ooze!

Down in the Foundation Stage, the children in Robins have been interested in boats and pirates. Today they were learning how to make a pirate hat and draw a skull and cross bones. They also made treasure maps and telescopes. They made a pirate ship in the classroom and in the garden and learned about the different roles pirates would have had on the ships. They each had a special job and role-played different scenarios such as a storm causing children to fall overboard and need saving, sharks attacking the ship and finding mermaids!

Down in the community room, the children in KS2 took turns to visit Father Christmas in his magical grotto. Supported by a host of elves from Year Six, Father Christmas chatted to each of the children in turn about their Christmas wishes and gave each one a special present. It was wonderful to have such a special visitor in school again, thank you to Father Christmas and the PTA for their hard work in making the days such a memorable experience.
