Our second day back saw all the children across the school being treated to some inspirational assemblies.

Our KS1 assembly saw Mr Geach introduce the children to the up and coming paralympics being held in Rio. He described the events and the grueling training schedules each athlete would be undertaking in order to prepare for the games. The children thought about the challenge each participant would face and vowed to back Team GB in their bid for glory!

Later, in the KS2 assembly, Miss Ellacott introduced the children to the first word of our new school motto ‘Celebrate, Challenge & Achieve’. The children discussed in detail all of the ways that, as a school, we celebrate. The assembly focused on celebrating each member of our community as an individual, celebrating whole school events and achievements as well as those on a national scale. She inspired the children with her examples and challenged the children to think of some of their own.

The day saw Rodney the rabbit spend his first day in school, enjoying the comfort of his new outside run. The run gave lots of children the opportunity to say hello to him throughout the day whilst he relaxed in the fresh air.

At lunchtime children from across KS1 took part in the first drama club of the term in the front gardens, today led by Mr B. The children took turns to change their expressions to mime various emotions and then mimed discovering various items in an invisible box with the other children guessing the item based on their acting. At the end of the session Mr B cast various spells on the group and they acted out their impacts.  After the club the children joined the rest of their friends to enjoy a delicious roast chicken dinner cooked by Mrs Hardy and her team.

In the afternoon Kestrels used their observational skills to complete amazing sketches of portraits. They included detailed features to complete each face.
