It was an exciting day for a group of children from Year Six today as they were told the news that they are House Captains! Following the news that Charlotte and Sam had been named as Head Girl and Head Boy respectively, Mr B had the pleasure of letting the children know that they had been chosen after a discussion between himself and all of the senior teachers in school. The roles were awarded on merit with the children having promoted our Earls Hall Qualities consistently over long periods of time and were very much deserved. Each child in turn visited Mr B’s office in order to phone home and share the news with their proud parents and there were beaming smiles all round. The children were very much aware that there may have been some of their friends who, although pleased for them, may have also been a little disappointed not to have been chosen but it was lovely to see so many of their Year Six peers congratulate them warmly on the playground and around the school. Well done children, we are proud of you!
Meanwhile, as Mabel joined the children in Foxes for their Maths lesson and stunned the children by pawing Miss Silver the correct amount of times when she said one or two, the children in Squirrels were treated to a French session by Miss Fitzgerald, our lovely Year Five teacher who also leads the subject across the school. Miss Fitzgerald was impressed that the children already knew how to say bonjour and could have a good go at counting to ten. They practised this then she read them “Toutes les coleurs’ and taught them how to say several colours, including green, red, yellow and blue in French whilst doing an action to help them remember them.
As the children in Woodpeckers bug hunted in the garden before enjoying a puppet show which some of the children performed, children across Year Six were enjoying laying the roof onto their homes for Hagrid and the children in Hawks used their sketch books to create cave art using charcoal pallets and their hands. Down in Foundation Stage, children acted as vets and made stunning creations using just cardboard boxes and accessories!
In the afternoon Mrs Matteucci met with the Science Ambassadors where they discussed the impact of the ‘Science Recap Books’ which have been introduced in the year groups across the school which give the children the opportunity to revisit investigations which they have taken part in or catch up on findings from them if they have been away poorly. They also discussed the scientific vocab posters which they recently voted to display in their classrooms. The team are working hard in their roles. Well done children, we are proud of you!
