It was an eventful day for the children in Year Three today as they celebrated harvest in style by performing assemblies for their proud parents! In a very Covid aware manner, the family members gathered in limited numbers in the hall for three separate assemblies throughout the day where the children shared their work in class and sang songs, all based around the theme of Autumn and harvest. It was wonderful to be able to share the work which has been taking place with family members after such a long time, thank you to everyone who made it along to join in with the celebrations.

At the back of the hall, on the stage, the donations of tins and dried goods which are being collected for the Southend Foodbank were all on display and provided the perfect backdrop to the assembly. Thank you to everyone who gave even one tin for such a worthwhile cause.

Meanwhile, it was another busy day sports wise as a group of children from Year six represented the school at the borough wide tag rugby competition. The team, accompanied by Mr Dorn and Mrs Collins, gave the day their best and their team work saw them win two games, draw one and lose three. Well done to all of the children who represented the school, we are proud of you.

Back at school, the children in Kites enjoyed a Forest friends session where they designed and constructed their own boats and rafts. they secured plant pots, punnets, corks and sticks with elastic bands before testing them in the water tray to see which of them floated. Meanwhile, over in the farm enclosures, the animals were visited and tended to by children from Sycamore and Owls whilst, inside, the children from Aspen continued to create their underwater felt creatures by incorporating running and blanket stitches.

Whilst the children in the Foundation Stage enjoyed developing their gross motor skills in the Early Years garden by rolling tyres, Mr B ended his day with the joy of listening to some fantastic readers in his office, today from Badgers.
