HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2017 got off to a flying start today as the children returned to school and hit the ground running with their learning!

The morning started with Mr B leading assemblies in both KS1 and KS2, focusing on New Year resolutions. He gave the children examples of common resolutions and how they could make an improvement to peoples lives before sharing some of his own such as trying  to get fitter!

The children then thought of examples of their own and shared them with a partner. To ensure the children were listening to each other, Mr B then asked random children to share their partners resolutions with the rest of the hall.

Some children decided to try and exercise more whilst others opted to try and think of others feelings more or try and get along with their siblings without arguing.

As the day progressed the children across the school took part in a range of activities. Year Two planned extended pieces of writing by using a range of writing structures whilst Hawks write WANTED posters for Goldilocks and included a series of adjectives to describe the character.

6B investigated key events from the past and used clues to place them in chronological order in a timeline whilst Kites began their Science unit learning about rocks.

The children in Oaks welcomed one of their new teachers, Mrs Howard, and enjoyed sharing their calculations skills with her as they worked their way through several mathematical challenges she had set them.
