It was a busy start to a new year at Earls Hall and it was lovely to see all of the children again. The morning started with Mr B leading an assembly in KS2 where he focused on the tradition of new year resolutions. Mr B and the children shared a number of resolutions with each other which included trying to be tidier, more caring and healthier. The children talked about how resolutions needed to be realistic and achievable and therefore only work if they aim to improve small aspects of ones life rather than change fundamentally a persons character entirely.

Later, in the downstairs hall, the children from Foundation Stage and KS1 were treated to a video clip of the musical show ‘The Lion King’. After watching the clip the children discussed how the actors and dancers had used their bodies to represent animals and were then challenged to create their own dances based on the music from the show and also find out more about the animals featured.

Today saw us change our lunchtime arrangements and the changes were incredibly positive. The children in Foundation Stage started lunch twenty minutes earlier than usual and as a result had the support of double the number of Midday Assistants when eating in the hall. The children in KS1 also started lunch earlier than before and the changes saw the children in Year Two eating their lunch over in the main dining hall. The children in KS2 continued to eat lunch at the same time as usual but today saw Mr B eating at a new special adults table where he invited children who were displaying good manners to join him as his guests.

In the afternoon the children in Year Three began investigating Volcanoes whilst the children in the KS2 choir sang with Mrs Thompson in preparation for their up and coming big performance.
