Greeks & Grotto!

It was a busy and exciting end to another week at Earls Hall! The children in Year Five spent the day as ancient Greeks with the help of the team from ‘Portals from the Past’. The children all came to school dressed to impress as Greeks and gathered in the upstairs hall where they learnt all about the Sparta and the Athens battle. They then had the opportunity to play a Greek game, complete a jigsaw and compete in a quiz; drawing on all the facts that they had digested throughout the day. In the afternoon the children all competed in a mini Olympics and loved taking turns to throw the javelin! It was a brilliant day which everyone enjoyed. Thanks to all of our lovely parents for helping it go so well by sending the children into school in such great costumes.

Meanwhile, downstairs in the community room, the magical grotto continued to welcome more visitors throughout the day who were all eager to spend some time with Father Christmas. Classes from across KS2 took turns to visit the main man himself and were assisted by members of the PTA and our Year Six elves as they did so. Thank you once again to all of our helpers and to Father Christmas for giving us his time at, what must be, his busiest time of year!

In the morning our simultaneous ‘Celebration Assemblies’ saw us present our ‘Earls Hall Stars’ to children from each class for effort and achievement and this morning we also congratulated children who had taken part in the national Maths challenge. Well done children, we are proud of you!
