It was a day of firsts and finals today at Earls Hall! The morning saw us welcome our new starters for September visit us so that they could familiarise themselves with, what will soon be, their new surroundings. Due to the covid restrictions, we had to carry out the transition visit differently to usual which meant that the children were firmly based outside. Half a class at a time, the children played in the early years garden as well as the Forest Friends area and were able to get to know the adults who will be working t=with them in the new academic year. Again due to covid, the adults then left the children and congregated in three entirely separate areas on the back playground where they were able to get to know each other as fellow parents before collecting their children and going home. There were two visits in total and it was lovely to see our new children and their parents at the start of, what I am certain will be, a fantastic learning journey between themselves and us. Later in the afternoon it was a case of a final outing for many of our Year Six parents as they came along to support their children at their last sports day. The children, all representing their houses, were cheered on and encouraged by their parents who were again sat in separate areas at three different tracks. There were some thrilling races including the sack, egg and spoon, skipping and flat before each class welcomed their parents for a race and then ended with the traditional Year Six relay. Although the covid restrictions resulted in it being a different kind of afternoon to the traditional sports day, it was important for us to be able to thank our lovely Year Six parents in person for the unwavering support that they have shown us over the past seven happy years that we have been working together.

Meanwhile, the children in Dormice and Rabbits once again took to the pool whilst the children in Squirrels enjoyed imaginative play in their gardens where they built boats and set sail on adventures!
