It was a special day in Year Three today as the children were visited by fireman Stuart. Stuart led an assembly for the whole of KS2 in the morning before giving talks about fire safety to Kites, Hawks and Kestrels in turn. Stuart explained the importance of fire safety to the children, highlighting some of the items they needed to be aware of in their homes. He highlighted the importance of not overloading plug adapters and unplugging phone chargers. He also told the children about the importance of not charging tablets and phones on their beds as they can become overheated and hazardous. Smoke alarms, and how they work, were talked about and by the end of the session the children were aware of how to keep themselves safe. Later in the day the children enjoyed a session of weaving, creating individual pieces of art by weaving wool.

The afternoon saw the community room play host to the latest ‘Family Council’ meeting. At the meeting Mr B explained to the council the ongoing parking issues which have been continually highlighted by neighbours of the school. He mooted the idea of relaunching a ‘Walking Bus’ and took on board ideas as to how the school might approach this. Other agenda items discussed at the meeting included the sports kits children wear when representing the school at events, changing arrangements for children attending early morning sports clubs, arrangements for signing children in when arriving late and ways of giving permission for events other than returning paper slips. It was once again a very useful meeting, thanks to everyone who attended.
