It was a great end to the week at Earls Hall! The day began with the children in all key stages taking part in our two simultaneous ‘Celebration Assemblies’ where Mrs Crouch and Mrs Linfield presented the weeks ‘Earls Hall Stars’ certificates as well as certificates for times table and reading achievements. The children also congratulated our borough sports team members on their fantastic achievement at the competition last week. Well done to all of the children rewarded today, we are proud of you!

Meanwhile, throughout the day, the children in Year Two ventured out of school in order to enjoy a fab day out at Barleylands farm. The theme of the day was to investigate the origins of food and how farms produce the products we enjoy eating.

The children made some herby/cheesy rolls after learning about how flour is made.  They had a look around the museum and learned a little more about making flour before grinding some seeds themselves.  They had a tractor ride around the farm where they saw some horses.  They enjoyed feeding goats sheep and rabbits and meeting the pony, donkeys, pigs and alpacas.  They explored the herb garden by rubbing leaves and sniffing them and lots of children loved the ‘lemon verbena’ that smelled like sherbert lemons. It was a highly enjoyable day out. Thank you to all of the parents who came along and gave their time to join in with the fun!

At the end of the afternoon, as Mabel enjoyed playing with a host of children, the weeks ‘Learning Ambassadors’ met with Mrs Irwin in order to share with her the learning which has taken place across the school which she can then feedback to the rest of the governing body. Well done to all of the weeks ambassadors, we are proud of you!
