FAREWELL MRS EVERETT!

Emotions were running high today as the school said a fond farewell to a much loved member of staff. Mrs Everett, who has worked as a teaching assistant with the junior children for the last fourteen years, spent her last day in school celebrating the fun times she has enjoyed.

In the KS2 assembly Mr B discussed saying goodbye with the children and the various emotions which arise when doing so. The children then shared their memories of working with Mrs Everett before she was presented with some beautiful flowers. Mrs Everett was then joined at the front of the hall by some willing volunteers as she danced her way through a rousing rendition of ‘Oh when the Saints go marching in’. At the end of the assembly Mrs Everett shared with the children how much she has enjoyed working at the school and wished everyone well for the future.

Earlier, in the KS1 assembly, there was a focus on singing when the children began to learn a new song, ‘Love shine a Light’. Children were chosen from the audience to accompany the singing with percussion instruments as the rest of the hall sang with great gusto!

At the end of the afternoon there was more music to be heard as Dormice sang a number of songs with each child tapping, banging or scraping out the rhythm and beat with instruments. Mr B joined the children with his guitar and a good time was had by all.
