It was a fantastic end to the first week back in school today! The morning started with the children celebrating success and effort in our weekly ‘Celebration Assemblies’. Certificates were presented to this weeks ‘Earls Hall Stars’ as well as for times table and reading. Well done to all of the children who were rewarded today, we are proud of you.

It was an enjoyable day for the children in Year One as they ventured out of school in order to take part in a trip to Barleylands Farm. At the farm the children rode on the tractor, visited the crops, herb garden and various animals before cooking their own pizzas in the kitchens using the ingredients that they had investigated. It was a great day. Thank you to all of our parent helpers.

Throughout the day Mr Smith and Mrs Crouch accompanied a group of children from KS2 as they represented the school at the Southend inter-schools cross country competition. All of our runners tried their best and did the school proud. Well done in particular to Tom who came a magnificent second place.

In the afternoon a group of children from Sycamore accompanied Mr B to Fairview House residential home where they took part in another ‘AOK Club’ mission. The children spent time with the residents drawing, colouring and playing board games and were an absolute credit to the school by drawing on their recent training from ‘Dementia Friends’. Mr B was proud to present them with their special badges back in school. Well done children, we are proud of you!

At the end of the day the school continued to be a hive of activity as children took part in a range of clubs. Mrs Smoothy hosted her tag rugby club whilst Miss Neal held her cricket club on the field. In the upstairs hall Mr B hosted table tennis club whilst downstairs the children in KS1 took part in construction and ‘Huff n Puff’ fitness club. Whilst a new round of our ‘Clay Cottage’ ceramics club began in Rabbits, Mr Smith ventured out of school with a group of children in order to lead the first of our new ‘Angling Club’ sessions at Rochford reservoir. The children had a fantastic time, with every child catching a fish, and caught carp, bream, eel, roaches, rudd and gudgeon.
