Today was a full one for the children, especially those in Year One. The children in Woodpeckers, Squirrels and Rabbits delighted parents on two occasions throughout the day as they took part in ‘Letters & Sounds’ demonstrations for parents and family members. At 9.15am and 2.45pm the children blended and segmented words, showing off to their parents the progress they have made since their last demonstration in the Foundation Stage.
Meanwhile, it was all go in Foxes as they enjoyed a library session with Mrs Bench. The children browsed through the hundreds of titles on offer before settling down to read them as individuals and with partners for pleasure.
In Sycamore the children used drama to investigate different forces whilst in Year Four the children investigated the local area of the school using Google Streetview and Google Earth to look at aerial maps. They then plotted their own draft maps which featured key features, both human and natural.
Later in Year One the children created their own space paintings. They flicked paint in the style of Jackson Pollock to create a starry background and printing techniques to create moons and planets. The results were stunning!
