It was another jam packed day at Earls Hall with visitors coming into school whilst the children enjoyed their learning both indoors and outside!

The day started with Mr B focusing on how to help other children on the playground in the KS1 assembly. With the help of volunteers he acted out scenarios where the children witnessed unkind behaviour at playtime. The children discussed what behaviour was unacceptable and how, if they witnessed it happening to another pupil, they needed to inform an adult. At the end of the assembly Mr B asked the children to signal their agreement by raising their thumb if they wanted to eradicate unkind behaviour at playtimes and there was a sea of thumbs in the hall!

Whilst Year One and Two were in the hall, the children in Robins showed an interest in air travel so the adults helped them to build their own aeroplane and all of the children seated themselves ready for take off. Mrs Davidson hired children as air hostesses and pilots and even helped serve refreshments to the passengers.

The KS2 assembly started with the children congratulating our table tennis players for their triumphant win yesterday. The team described the matches they played and the hall gave them a rousing round of applause for their win! The assembly then saw the children joined by visitors Katie and Tom from Earls Hall Baptist Church who, with the help of the children, acted out the story of the fallen seed.

It was a fun day for learning outside today. Whilst half of Year Three spent the day at Belfairs Wood, the children in Year Four enjoyed a special ‘Forest Friends’ day with Mrs Mellish and Miss Chandler. The children worked in teams to complete a series of challenges. They used the large logs to construct shelters large enough to fit them all inside before working together to create bridges strong enough to hold the entire group without any of them falling into the imaginary river, once again working in teams with the logs.

Lunchtime saw Mrs Hardy and her team serve up delicious roast beef dinners with sponge and custard for dessert!

In the afternoon the children in Kestrels developed their orienteering skills by maneuvering around the school building using scaled maps of the school.

At the end of the day Mr B held the first evening of his Headteacher and Parent meetings with the parents of Squirrels. Each parent who attended had a twenty minute chat with him where they discussed the children and shared ideas of how to improve the school throughout the next year.
