Everything’s Swell at PGL!

Today saw the children take part in lots of exciting activities both at Earls Hall and off site.

The children in Year One spent time investigating money and how to calculate the equivalents of set amounts. They combined coins to find a total of ten pence and identified as many ways as possible. Later on they used their daily ‘Letters & Sounds’ sessions to learn split digraphs. Meanwhile, in PE, the children in Squirrels enjoyed a fun session where they used their bodies to create a series of shapes and movements as individuals and groups.

Elsewhere, a group of children from Year Five ventured off site to take part in a residential trip to PGL at Windmill Hill in Sussex. The children spent the first day working in groups on a series of challenging activities. Some children worked together to combat their fears and have a go on the giant swing whilst others took to the climbing wall. There were orienteering challenges to enjoy too which saw the children map reading to find a series of locations. After a delicious dinner the children all enjoyed a campfire session where they listened to stories and joined in with chants and songs.

At the end of the evening there were plans a plenty to stay up as late as possible but after lights out at ten there was an air of sleepy silence across the cabins not long afterwards!
