There was a theme of e-safety across KS2 today in school as the children were joined by Mr Collard who explained to them all about the dangers of the internet.

First thing this afternoon the children in Years Three and Four listened and watched a forty minute presentation about the various dangers including giving personal details to strangers online and how easy it is to share information to the wrong people over the internet.

Later in the afternoon the children in Years Five and Six were given the same information but were also provided with further details of how social media can put them in vulnerable positions, why age restrictions are in place and some examples of how children have put themselves in danger online.

After school Mr Collard, a former police officer, trained the staff by explaining about the various social networks and platforms and how they can be used by offenders. The session was then repeated for the parents in the evening where there was also the chance to ask questions about how to keep the children safe. Thanks to everyone who came along and to Mr Collard for his time and knowledge throughout the day.

Elsewhere in school, the children in Squirrels enjoyed a fun library session whilst the children in 6J played a series of Maths games. The children will use the games as a basis for designing their own games for others to play. The children from Oak interviewed Mr B about his opinions on Parkour by asking him a series of questions and will use the answers to write up a report.
