It was a busy start to the week and a day which saw some of the children put their creative flair to the test as they became designers for the afternoon! The children in Year Five continued to work through the theme of the Windrush generation and today continued to create their own traditional Caribbean designs. Following on from their investigations into bright and colourful patterns last week, the children were designing clothes for passengers who travelled to the UK on the Windrush. They could choose formal or informal clothes and transferred their patterns to create materials for their cardboard figures.

Meanwhile, as the children in Foxes investigated their heart rate and how it changes when exercising and the children in Badgers took to the library, there was more designing taking place across Year Four as the children got creative with wire! The children have been investigating how sculpture, and art in general, is presented on plinths and so this afternoon twisted and secured sculpting wire into various figure shapes as the basis for their own statue which they will later present on a plinth.

Down in Year Three, the children were making shadows using torches and investigated how to change the shape and size of them by moving objects closer or further from the source of light or by moving the light source itself up, down, left or right.
