It was a busy day for the children in Year Three today as they went outside in order to become archeologists for the afternoon! The children have been learning how archeologists spend their time investigating the past by digging for, and retrieving, artefacts. This afternoon they roleplayed a day in the life of an archaeologist using tools to dig for buried artefacts in the giant sandpit on the playground. They worked as individuals and in pairs and discovered a series of pots and fossils which they dusted off in order to look at closely back in the classroom. It was a fantastic and fun afternoon full of activity which the children all threw themselves into wholeheartedly!

Meanwhile, after the children in KS2 were provided with an insight into the world of fencing in assembly, the children in Beech took to the playground in order to develop their hockey skills. Taught by Mr Crooks, the children maneuvered their sticks in order to pass the ball with accuracy.

It was an exciting day for the netball team today as they took delivery of their brand new kit which has been donated by our wonderful PTA. Miss Patching and the team tried on the smart new bibs which they will proudly wear when playing matches against other schools. Thank you to the committee for agreeing to purchase the kit and for all of our families for supporting the work of the PTA in order to raise the funds.

At the end of the afternoon, the children in Oak were treated to a musical extravaganza as Ray entertained his friends on the cello. Ray has recently won first place in the cello solo and baroque class at the Southend festival of performing arts and ended the day by performing one of his award winning pieces for his friends. It was a brilliant end to the day. Well done Ray, we are proud of you!
