DELIGHTFUL DECORATIONS!

The festive spirit was already on show around the school today as classes developed their learning through the making of some fantastic decorations. The children in Robins used advent as a theme to create lanterns and angels from paper. They decorated both using sequins and accessories from their creative area.

In Badgers the children continued their ‘Life Skills’ sessions. The class had previously created tree decorations from clay. They shaped their clay using their fingers and enhanced them using a series of tools. Today they added colour to their decorations by choosing and, at times, mixing colours and then painted them carefully to create stunning finished results.

The children were treated to another governor visit this morning when Mr Vousden popped into school to see what learning was taking place.  Mr Vousden, who has been a governor for twelve years, watched the children in Year One demonstrate their growing knowledge of phonics in their ‘Letters & sounds’ sessions. He took the time to chat with the children across all year groups about their learning and was very impressed with the responses they gave.

In Owls the children were designing their own board games in pairs. They were challenged to invent the concept of a game, design it, mark it out and compile a set of rules for others to follow when playing it. Once finished, the children will write a set of instructions to accompany each game.

6B took part in a fun swim session over in the pool whilst the community room was full of parents as the PTA made preparations for the magical grotto which the children in Foundation Stage and KS1 can visit tomorrow.
