The downstairs in school wafted with the smell of delicious cooking once again today as, following our latest ‘Reading Champions’ assembly, the children in Year Two started the week baking a scrumptious peach sponge pudding! The children followed the recipe step by step before steaming it in the microwave. At the end of the day they all enjoyed tasting the fruits of their labour by sampling the dessert for themselves. The cake received a huge thumbs up!

Earlier in the day the Year Two choristers took their musical talents on tour again as they visited Fairview Residential home, the second home they have sung in over the last week. The children sang their songs from the recent music festival as well as ‘The Lion sleeps Tonight’ and ‘Clap your hands’, both accompanied by Mr B on the guitar. The residents loved the performance and the staff were full of praise.

Meanwhile upstairs in Year Three, Hawks experimented with magnets. they undertook a number of investigations to identify which magnet was the strongest. In Sycamores and Beech the children worked in pairs to design and create their own cam mechanisms, moving toys which were popular in the Victorian times.

In Squirrels the children added colour to their clay models of underwater creatures. They chose the appropriate size brushes for each part of their model and carefully applied the colour to bring the creatures to life!
