It was another busy day at Earls Hall today! The children in Kestrels made the most of the fresh air in their Forest Friends session as they investigated wind. The children worked as individuals or in pairs to create their own kites and enjoyed testing them out the front on the green.

Meanwhile, inside, there was a theme of cake in different corners of the school. In the staffroom, Mr B was joined by the girls from Year Five who have organised the cake sale in aid of the people of Ukraine which takes place on the infant playground after school tomorrow. The children worked as a team to make a whole host of fairy cakes, taking turns beautifully to weigh out the ingredients and mix them before baking them in the oven. By the end of the afternoon the whole staffroom was filled with a waft of cake!

There were more goodies of a different variety on show in the Year Six classrooms as the children began their investigation into war time recipes by comparing them to modern day equivalents. the children evaluated modern day chocolate chip cookies with carrot cookies and a modern day syrup loaf with its war time counterpart. The children compared texture, appearance, smell and taste as part of their evaluations which will lead them to make their own offerings as the week progresses.

As the children in Robins were inspired to role play hospitals due to paying an interest in Miss Cracknell’s poorly foot, the children in Year three were exploring with estimation by estimating and measuring weight.
