It was another proud day for Earls Hall on the sporting front today as a host of children from across KS2 represented the school at the Southend Sports Hall Athletics competition. The children took part in a series of track and field events against other schools and their determination to succeed resulted in the Year Three and Four team gaining a brilliant second place overall and the Year Five and Six team gaining the top spot of first place! Well done to all of the children who took part, we are so proud of you!

Meanwhile, back in school, the children in Year Two worked in English to improve their sentence construction. They edited their sentences about animals to include adventurous word choices and a range of conjunctions. Later in the afternoon the children in 6S were taught by Mr B in the afternoon where they worked together to create sound tracks to accompany pictures which told the story of the Blitz in WWII. The children had to choose percussion instruments which represented different events from the Blitz and then performed them in groups and explained their reasoning to each other.

Outside in the ‘Forest Friends’ area the children in Year Two were creative by making pendants and forest decorations. They used vegetable peelers and loppers to create their decorations and also used wool to weave.

Music has been a continuous theme throughout the day as our Year Five and Six choir have been taking part in a fantastic event; the Young Voices at London O2 arena. The children have joined thousands of other children from across the country in order to form the largest school choir and perform a series of diverse songs in the arena.
