It was a day where the children’s artistic talents were on show in many corners of the school! The children in Year One demonstrated their creativity as they set to work being sculptors for the day.

Having had the skill modelled by the teachers, the children made their own sculpture doodles using a variety of resources. A sculpture doodle is where you join materials together to make a sculpture without planning it to see what evolves and so, being children that love to rise to a challenge, each pupil sourced a range of materials from their creative corners and started to fasten, cut and secure each part of their work of art.  The classrooms were hives of activity and the finished results were each unique and stunning. The final challenge was to make creativity medals which the children were very proud to wear home.

Meanwhile, upstairs, the children in Year Three were also throwing themselves wholeheartedly into their art work. Inspired by the work of Roald Dahl, the children each chose a character to create. They made a basic frame of their sculpture using rolled newspaper and masking tape, before adding a firmer layer of modroc. Once their work has set, each child will complete their work by adding painted detail and will each end up having created a character from one of the authors famous tales.

It was a day of celebration for Earls Hall sport today as our girls table tennis team ventured out of school in order to compete in the Essex table tennis finals. The girls finished in an amazing second place, losing only one match to the eventual winners from Alleyn Court. This incredible achievement sees the girls qualify for the next round of the national tournament which will be held in Redbridge in the new year. Well done girls, we are proud of you!
