ACE AOK!

It was another busy and fun day in school. The morning started with the children from KS1 being joined by Katie Stanton from Earls Hall Baptist Church. Katie led an assembly focusing on how Christians believe Jesus grew from a baby to a man and achieved many marvelous things throughout his life.

The morning also saw Owls jump in the school minibus and venture off site to Southend Planetarium. They learnt all about the solar system and amazed the adults at lunchtime with an array of space facts! In the afternoon they planned and wrote thank you letters to the staff at the Planetarium.

The afternoon saw our latest ‘AOK Club’ mission take place as a group of children from Oaks journeyed to Earls Hall Baptist Church to visit their ‘Time Together’ group. The group was largely made up of senior members of our community and the children spent time serving them refreshments and chatting to them at their tables. Mr B was incredibly proud of how polite all of the children were and the members of the group were full of praise for the children as they had given up some of their playtime to make the visit. There was a round of applause as the children were presented with their special badges in recognition of their kindness.

In the afternoon the children in the Foundation Stage enjoyed a fun ‘Numbertime’ session with many using Numicon to assist them develop their understanding of place value.

At the end of the afternoon the downstairs hall formed the venue of our latest ‘Tea with Teachers’ session. Parents of Oaks were given the opportunity to pop in and have a cup of tea with Mrs Chapman and Mrs Howard.

After school there was a meeting of the Governing Body. At the meeting the governors discussed attainment and progress, sports provision, school improvement and parking around the school.
