It was a busy day for the children in Year Six today as they took part in a Forest Friends session linked to their topic of Harry Potter. Working in teams, the children spent time in the woods rising to challenges set by the lovely Mrs Mellish. They scavenged the forest for large branches and donated Christmas trees in order to construct solid shelters without adult support, utilising all of the skills that they had previously been taught to ensure that the shelters were strong and sturdy. The shelters had to be large as they represented houses for the character of Hagrid amongst other characters. It was a real team effort which drew upon lots of mathematical knowledge.
