The children love welcoming special guests through the school doors and so today they were in for a treat as they were visited by none other than the Mayor of Southend.

The Mayor, who was joined by school governors Mr Stanton and Mr McGarel, came to the school to mark the amalgamating of the old infant and junior school and was joined by a host of children from all classes for a special photo which saw him cut a ribbon at the schools main entrance. He spoke a few words to congratulate everyone involved on a successful opening before being given a tour of the building.

Whilst touring the classes the Mayor took the opportunity to speak to the children about the learning they were undertaking and was happy to answer questions about his role and what it involved. Our children demonstrated impeccable manners and our special visitor commented on their outstanding behaviour on several occasions.

As the tour stopped at the community room the Mayor took time to congratulate our PTA on creating such a wonderful grotto experience for our children.

In the Early Years garden the Mayor was joined by the team from Tescos who recently gave our garden a makeover for free. The team celebrated the fact that the garden was being enjoyed by so many children and explained all about their voluntary work to the Mayor.
