It was an incredibly busy final day of the term at school today as Earls Hall saw out 2023 in style! The morninhg began with the children in KS1 Breakfast Club saying a fond farewell to the lovely Mrs Baker as, having worked at the school for the past thirteen years, she began her well earned retirement. Mr Geach and I presented her with flowers as the children gave her a big cheer to wish her well. Thank you Mrs Baker for all of your years of dedication.

In the morning, the KS2 assembly saw the children take part in our traditional Christmas singalong session. With Mrs Thompson on the piano, the children sang a series of Christmas songs together and the atmosphere was electric!

As more and more classes took part in Christmas campfire sessions outside in the Forest Friends area where the children sang Christmas songs and enjoyed hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows, the classes all began their Christmas parties. Each year group enjoyed a dancing session in the hall where they showed off some amazing moves and enjoyed party food and games back in their classrooms.

In the afternoon, as the parties were in full swing, Mr B was called to an emergency as a loud bang and crash had been reported on the roof. Not only that but poor Mrs Humphrey had some jingle bells fall from the roof narrowly missing her head and there were reports of the sound of hooves coming through the ceiling. Upon investigation it turned out that the bang was the sound of Father Christmas’ sleigh as he landed on the roof in order to pay Earls Hall one final visit! Each class was visited by the big man himself as he presented the teachers with sacks full of presents for each and every child before reminding them all that they needed to go to sleep without any fuss on Christmas Eve. His visit was the perfect end to a fun and busy day, thank you Father Christmas for once again giving us your valuable time.

The last day of term also saw us say au revoir to the lovely Mrs Howell, nee Childs, as she begins her maternity leave. Mrs Howell was presented with flowers at lunchtime as her friends and colleagues wished her well as she awaits the arrival of her baby. Good luck Mrs Howell and see you soon!
