It was a rainy, but busy, day at Earls Hall today! The children in Foxes and Owls enjoyed a fantastic history lesson where they travelled back in time in order to live out the events of ‘The Great Fire of London’ first hand! The children transformed their classrooms into Pudding Lane, where the fire began, and each took on roles of key people as they watched the fire spread before putting it out. Having used boxes, paper and carboard to make items from the time, children bailed out the fire in human chains as the teachers used the interactive whiteboard to insert a series of explosive sound effects into the action! The session, although great fun, gave the children a deeper understanding of how events panned out and just how the residents of the city must have felt as their precious homes were destroyed.

Meanwhile, as the children in Beech continued to research the states of the USA, the children in Robins and Hedgehogs enjoyed a session browsing in the KS1 library. The children each chose books to sit down and look at, either on their own or with a friend, and each took one home to enjoy for the week.

There was more Foundation Stage fun in the afternoon as the children enjoyed another numbertime session whilst the children in 6C put the finishing touches to their superb Tudor cushion designs and the children in Badgers and Owls once again took to the pool for another swimming lesson with Mr Knight.

Throughout the day a select group of PTA volunteers hosted the Fathers Day sale in the downstairs hall where classes took turns to reserve goods for the special men in their lives. Thank you to all of the volunteers for giving their time and adapting to the restrictions in place due to covid 19.
