Wonderful Wednesday!

m 7

It was a wonderful day today at Earls Hall! In the morning Mr B accompanied a group of children from Rabbits as they took part in our latest, and their first, ‘AOK Club’ mission! The children used the special litter pickers to clear up rubbish from along Carlton and Colemans Avenue by working in teams. It was a particularly challenging mission as the windy weather meant that the rubbish was blowing around as they tried to collect it but they persevered and by the end of the mission the streets were litter free! The children felt very satisfied with their team work and Mr B was very proud to present then with their special badges back in school in recognition of their kindness. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Meanwhile, away from school at Garons, a group of children from Years Five and Six competed in the Essex Sports Hall finals against thirteen other teams and finished a very creditable sixth place. The children worked hard as a team by encouraging each other as they took part in events and as a result regained their crown of being the best in Southend. The quality of athletes on display on the track and the field was outstanding and competing against the other top schools in Essex was a very good experience for the pupils. All twenty eight athletes gave their all, making them a credit to the school and themselves. Mr Smith was very proud of them all and grateful to Mrs Elliott and Mrs Bowers as there was a lot off paperwork and organising to do during the event. Well done children, we are proud of you!

In the afternoon the upstairs hall was full of proud parents and other family members as we hosted this terms ‘Music Review’ where we celebrated musical talent in school. Mrs Thompson presented the Year three & Four choir, who sang their hearts out on the stage, as well as our fantastic timbrel group who entertained the audience with a routine. There was also plenty of talent on display from a range of pianists who each took turns to entertain the hall on the piano. It was a lovely end to the afternoon. Well done to all of our musicians, we are proud of you!

After school the downstairs hall played host to Mr Smith’s indoor athletics club, in Dormice Miss Toms hosted another ‘Drama Club’, in The IT suite Mrs Gorbutt held her latest ‘Lego Club’ whilst upstairs the ‘Steps Ahead’ performing arts group rehearsed their end of term showcase which was coming along nicely!
