It was an exciting day today at Earls Hall as we welcomed our new intake children for their first morning in school! The morning saw the children who will be in the Foundation Stage in September come to spend time in school for the first time with their new classmates. The children came to school with their parents who, once they had settled them in, went and got to know each other in the community room over a cup of tea. It was a special session as each of the new classes got to know, not only each other and their new teachers, but also the recently hatched ducklings! In the first session the parents were greeted by some of our transition prefects who chatted to them and helped put them at ease. At the end of the session the parents went back to fetch the children and there were plenty of smiling faces all round.
Later in the day the lovely Mrs Ludlam hosted the last of our transition meetings for the parents of children in Year Four where she told them all about life in Year Five. The parents heard all about the planned curriculum before they had a chance to introduce themselves to the teachers which included one of our new teachers, Mrs Gillard. Thanks to everyone who came along.#
Later, in the upstairs hall, the sound of rock echoed down the corridor as proud parents and other family members came to watch a fantastic ‘Rock Steady Workshop’ concert. Three bands played for the audience with children rocking out on the electric guitar, keyboard, drums and vocals. It was a great concert which showed the progress the bands had made. Thanks to everyone who came along to enjoy the show!
After school the staff meeting saw the team discuss children with their next teacher. The teachers discussed every aspect of the children; their likes and interests, what makes them happy and motivated, any worries they may have and their next steps in learning. It was a useful session which everyone enjoyed.
