It was a busy end to another fantastic week at Earls Hall! The morning began with the children coming together in order to congratulate the weeks ‘Earls Hall Stars’ in our two simultaneous ‘Celebration Assemblies’. In the assemblies we also presented certificates for reading and times tables. Well done to all of the children who were presented with certificates today. We are proud of you!
As the day progressed the children in 6J were identifying goals on their totem poles and thinking of how to achieve them whilst the children in Year One were continuing their mod-roc masterpieces by painting their pigs, lambs, cows and a tractor! In the Foundation Stage the children were exploring a whole range of skills. They were working as a team as they practised skipping, learning about pushing things to make them move using large tyres, using tools to dig in the dirt for minibeasts where they found ants, using 3d shapes to build houses, practising their balance on skooters and bikes and producing some really impressive pieces of writing!
Throughout the day Mr Smith and Mrs Elliott accompanied groups of children from KS2 as they represented the school at the Southend inter-schools tennis competition. Two teams entered the competition; one from Years Three and Four and one from Years Five and Six. Both teams got through to the semi finals where both drew 2:2 meaning that, on account of count backs, both teams were ranked a brilliant third place. Well done children, we are proud of you!
Meanwhile, upstairs in Elm, the children were learning all about high and low frequency sounds whilst out on the field the children in 6C were playing rounders.
At the end of the afternoon the downstairs hall played host to our third and final ‘Attendance Assembly’ where the children in Year Two who had been at school for over 95% of the first two terms of the year were rewarded. The children’s images formed part of a musical presentation showing them enjoying their day in school and every child was presented with a special certificate in front of proud parents and other family members. Well done to all of the children, we are proud of you!
