It was a great day for the children in Year One today as they worked in teams during their ‘Forest Friends’ sessions in order to create a series of magnificent large scale dens! The children put their best knot tying skills to the test as they fastened large branches together to make constructions which they then attached tarpaulin to in order to protect them from the elements. It was a great challenge which each and every child rose to!
Meanwhile, as Mabel the dog was taken for a walk by several groups of children, Mrs Cox was joined by a series of children in order to carry out tasks with the farm animals. Some children helped her change the pond water in the duck enclosure whilst others swept the goats enclosure so that it was clean and tidy. There was more tidying on show as children from Year Five volunteered their time at lunchtime in order to take part in an impromptu litter sweep. The children did a sterling job, well done children we are proud of you!
In the afternoon a group of children from Year Five and Six represented the school as they took part in a series of friendly football games against our friends at Chalkwell Junior School. All of the children played well and showed great team spirit throughout the afternoon. Well done children, we are proud of you!
In the evening the downstairs hall played host to our second ‘Growth Mindset’ information session for parents. The parents heard from the teachers all about ways we are encouraging children to adopt a growth mindset in school and how this can be supported at home. Thanks to everyone who came along for the session.
