It was a busy start to the new term, and indeed new year, as the children spent time in their assemblies focusing on resolutions. Mr B explained to them what we mean by resolutions and then gave some examples of common ones which people make each year. He talked to the children about how the new year gives us the opportunity to make the effort to improve ourselves as people by being healthier, kinder, more organised or thoughtful and then the children discussed possible resolutions that they would make with talk partners. Mr B then chose some children to share their thoughts at the front of the hall ans asked the children to continue to think hard about their resolutions and share them with him throughout the day.
The resolution theme continued in Year Three where the children, back in class, thought about people who they admired, the reasons why and ways which they could aspire to be like them.
In the Foundation Stage the children focused on the numerals in the year 2019, made New Year cards and role played a New Year party.
It was a lovely way to start a new year at Earls Hall. Happy New Year one and all!
