There was a sense of celebration in school today as both our boys and girls table tennis teams triumphed once again at the Southend inter-schools tournament!
The tournament, hosted at Thorpe Hall School, saw the teams compete against a series of schools including Chalkwell, Bournemouth Park, Bournes Green, Friars and Thorpdene with each and every team winning every single match they played. Their triumphant display of skill means that not only are both teams are through to the Essex finals due to held in Harlow in November but that Earls Hall have won the boys and girls trophies for four consecutive years! Well done to all of the children who took part and to Mr Smith and Mr Dorn for their coaching skills.
Meanwhile, back in school, the children took part in a morning of Maths. Both Mrs Geach and Mrs Sterling led assemblies inspiring the children to try their best in Maths by sharing examples of careers they could enjoy if they develop their Maths skills before the children returned to class to take part in a series of challenges. In Year six the children investigated area by designing their own zoos and theme parks; calculating the areas needed to house the animals and attractions. In Year Five the children linked their Maths investigations with their English lessons as they budgeted to host the next annual high grand witch conference.
The morning also saw a visit to school by school governor Mrs Eshmade who met with children from Year Three to hear all abouyt the learning which took place at Belfairs Wood. Later in the morning Mrs Eshmade also heard all about the challenges the children in Year Five took part in on the recent PGL trip before meeting with Mrs Geach to discuss improvements being made in Maths across the school.
