It was an exciting day for the children in the Foundation Stage classes today as they ventured over to the swimming pool for the first of their terms lessons! The children took to the water well and were supported by a host of ladies in the pool as they walked or swam widths or lengths. It was a really successful first session and all of the children felt really proud of themselves when they returned to the classrooms.
In Year Three the children showed their creative sides by creating a range of mocktails to drink on a tropical island, developing their understanding of capacity in the process. The children worked in groups and gave each of their creations names before tasting them and giving them big thumbs up!
In Aspen the children investigated the various relationships that they have, from close family relationships to those of friends, whilst in Oak the children used the laptops to create their own posters and information pamphlets about the Vikings using microsoft publisher.
Out on the field the children in Willow developed their rounders skills whilst the children in Kites developed their over arm throwing techniques.
At the end of the afternoon the upstairs hall played host to a parent information session about the Year Six residential trip to Stratford Upon Avon where the lovely Mrs Creak told the parents all about the itinerary for the children before, downstairs in Hedgehogs, the Foundation Stage and KS1 ‘Science Club’ saw the children prepare their own trays to grow cress in.
