It was a phenomenal day sport wise for Earls Hall today as a group of children from KS2 represented the school at the Southend inter-schools tennis tournament. In the morning a group of children from Years three & Four beat Chalkwell 3.1 and Bournemouth Park 4.0. They then drew against Thorpe Hall 2.2 and lost 3.1 to Alleyn Court. After beating West Leigh in the semi final 3.1 they lost in the final, 3.1, to Alleyn Court meaning they were ranked a magnificent second place and therefore will take part in the Essex finals on the 3rd July.
In the afternoon it was the turn of our Year five & Six team who won against West Leigh and Thorpedene 3.2. They then lost against Alleyn Court in the semi final before beating west Leigh in order to be placed a brilliant third place. It was a great day which saw all of the children play well. Well done to all of the children who represented the school, we are proud of you!
Meanwhile, back at school, Mr & Mrs Geach rewarded lots of children for their individual achievements in the two simultaneous ‘Celebration Assemblies’ before Foxes spent time writing their own pirate riddles.
Throughout the day the children in Year Three had a fantastic time out of the front of the school as they took part in ‘Forest Friends’ sessions. The children worked in teams to make large scale dens and shelters without adult support, using their knowledge of rope tying. They also made models out of natural resources, played on the rope swing and even made their own fires in the fire pit. It was a really enjoyable day and the children loved the freedom learning outside gave them.
