It was a great end to the week at Earls Hall! The morning saw the Year One classes welcoming a string of parents who all came along in order to take part in whole class modroc sessions! The children used their recent trip to Barleylands in order to create junk model bases of the animals they saw there which they then covered in modroc to create sheep, pigs, snakes, chickens, rabbits and more. The art sessions continued throughout the whole day. Thank you to all of the parents who gave their time!
As the morning progressed the children came together to celebrate success and effort in our two simultaneous ‘Celebration Assemblies’. The assemblies saw Mr B and Mr Geach present ‘Earls Hall Stars’ to each class for individual effort and achievement as well as certificates for reading and maths. In both assemblies the children congratulated last weeks cross country runners for their achievements at the Essex competition and the Maths team for their achievement this week at the Essex competition where they came second.
Throughout the day Miss Bennett’s nurture group ventured out of school and spent the day at Colchester Zoo. The children behaved beautifully whilst they travelled around the zoo and visited all of the animal enclosures. The children fed giraffes, rode the train and laughed like hyenas when Mr Smith’s head was landed on by a group of parakeets!
As Miss Newman was at the zoo, Mr Geach and Mr B worked at the KS1 ‘After School Club’ until she returned and had a lovely time playing with the children. It was a smashing end to what has been a lovely week!
