The front of the school was a hive of Hogwarts activity today as the children from Year Three took part in a range of Harry Potter inspired ‘Forest Friends’ activities! The children made wands and flying broomsticks, using vegetable peelers to whittle away the wood and bark on sticks and branches. They made lots of potions by foraging for natural objects such as grass, leaves and soil and made dragon traps on a large scale by tying a host of knots in groups. There was plenty of opportunity to explore some of their favourite areas of the forest such as the rope swing and the mud kitchen and a great time was had by all!
Meanwhile, the morning started with a singing assembly for the children in KS1 where the children sang along with Mr B and his guitar. Later the children in the Foundation Stage enjoyed a numbertime session whilst the children in Year Two continued to learn through a castle theme, making their own three dimensional castle pictures out of card and collage.
Throughout the day the children in Sycamore made a big fuss of the lovely Mrs Ludman, nee Brooker, as she celebrated her thirtieth birthday. At lunchtime Mrs Ludlam was presented with flowers by the rest of the team. Happy Birthday Mrs Ludlam!
