The end of the week saw the children take part in our two simultaneous ‘Celebration Assemblies’ in the morning. In the assemblies Mr B and Mr Geach presented children with this weeks ‘Earls Hall Stars’ awards which reward individual children in each class for a significant effort or achievement.
During the assembly the first meeting of the new school council took place. Mrs Geach discussed the role of the council with the children and they spent time setting future agendas and discussing ideas of how they can improve the school throughout the year. The children were set the task of feeding back to their classes details about a range of charities and will choose the chosen charity the school will support this year at the next meeting.
Throughout the day the children on the Foundation stage continued to enjoy using the Early Years garden, taking part in a range of exciting activities. Some children enjoyed playing in the sand pit whilst others made their own construction site or played role pay games. The children are now trained to use the outdoor area at will throughout the day and can choose to work indoors or outdoors if they choose.
In the afternoon the children in 6C worked with Mrs Collins to discuss ways to make the world a better place with some interesting and thought provoking suggestions arising.
At the end of the afternoon our trusty PTA held a ‘Cake & Uniform sale’ in the downstairs hall. There was an array of delicious cakes on sale and the event raised a magnificent £360 with a further £80 being raised for Macmillan Cancer Trust. Thank yo to everyone who supported the event.
Whilst the sale was taking place our ‘Clay Cottage’ club saw the children glazing their clay minions whilst in gardening club Mrs Townsend worked with the children to clear some of the allotments of dead plants ready for the new year of planting!
