It was time to celebrate today as the children in the Foundation Stage took part in the first of the terms ‘Attendance Assemblies’. The children who had attended school for over 95% of the time throughout the first two terms of the year were celebrated with a musical powerpoint showing them enjoying school and were presented with special certificates in front of proud parents and other family members. There were lots of lovely manners when the children received their certificates too! Well done to all of the children in the assembly today, we are proud of you.
There was more activity in the Foundation Stage as the children investigated Ramadan. They researched Ramadan on the interactive whiteboard and learnt all about fasting. Some children also shared how they undertake prayers on their prayer mats. In Dormice some children also worked together to create models of landmarks, with some building their own version of the Eiffel Tower. they then searched for photos of the tower on the whiteboard.
Meanwhile, outside in a rainy ‘Forest Friends’ session, the children created dream catchers under the parachute, made their own shelters by tying rope and hanging tarpaulin in groups and made water routes using guttering.
Inside, in the dry, the children in Kites created their own shadow puppets whilst the children in Kestrels investigated sources of light and how light travels and reflects.
After school the children in our KS1 & Foundation Stage ‘After School Club’ sewed their own patterns on patches of cloth whilst over in the Woodland Diner the children in the KS2 club played with masses of Lego and played with a range of brand new games.
Inside the children attending ‘Lego Club’ created a range of models in pairs and as individuals having been inspired by the video on the whiteboard. Today we also said a fond farewell to the lovely Miss Holmes as she starts her maternity leave. Good luck Miss Holmes!
